How to understand a WHOIS result
WHOIS records vary by domain and policy. These are the most useful fields to review before registering, renewing, transferring or troubleshooting a domain.

Registrar
Identifies the registrar currently responsible for managing the domain registration on behalf of the registrant.
Creation, update and expiry dates

Nameservers
Shows the authoritative DNS hosts currently delegated at the registry for the domain.
Registrant and contact information
Displays only the ownership or contact fields permitted by policy, privacy protection and data requirements.

Indicates whether supported registry security data is published. It does not by itself prove that the full DNSSEC chain validates correctly.

What is the difference between the creation date and expiry date?
The creation date shows when the domain registration was first created. The expiry date shows the end of the current paid registration term, subject to renewal, registry processing and lifecycle rules.
What do nameservers in WHOIS mean?
Nameservers identify the authoritative DNS provider for the domain. They do not show every DNS record, website server or email setting, but they indicate where DNS is delegated.
Can WHOIS show whether DNSSEC is enabled?
The lookup can show DNSSEC or DS information when the registry makes it available. Valid DNSSEC also depends on matching signatures at the authoritative DNS provider.
Can I transfer a registered .gy domain after looking it up?
An eligible domain can be transferred with the registrant’s authorisation, an unlocked status and a valid transfer code. WHOIS information helps identify the current registrar and status but does not replace transfer approval.
What should I do if the WHOIS result looks incorrect?
